Mentorship

Our Vision for the Mentorship and Discipleship Program

  1. Pairing Mentors with Mentees: Carefully match more experienced members of the congregation with newer or less mature members based on common interests, experiences, or spiritual goals. This pairing will be done thoughtfully to ensure compatibility and the potential for a fruitful relationship.
  1. Training for Mentors: Provide training sessions for mentors to equip them with the skills needed to guide others effectively. This could include listening skills, basic counseling, spiritual guidance, and how to encourage growth without imposing.
  1. Setting Clear Objectives: Goals could range from developing specific spiritual disciplines to integrating more fully into the life of the church. Both mentors and mentees will have a clear understanding of what they hope to achieve through their partnership.
  1. Regular Check-ins: There will be a system for regular check-ins between mentors and mentees, as well as between the program coordinators and the participants. These check-ins will provide necessary adjustments to the mentorship relationships and ensure that the program meets its objectives.
  1. Incorporating Group Activities: While one-on-one mentorship is the program’s core, incorporating group activities will enhance the sense of community. These could be retreats, service projects, or study groups that allow mentees and mentors to interact within a larger community context.

Benefits of the Program

  • Spiritual Growth: Mentees can benefit from the wisdom, experience, and spiritual maturity of their mentors, accelerating their own growth and understanding of their faith.
  • Strengthened Community Bonds: As members invest in each other’s lives, the sense of belonging and community within BCPC will deepen. Mentorship creates intergenerational connections that enrich the church body.
  • Cultivation of Future Leaders: Through mentorship, potential leaders within the church will be identified and developed, ensuring a steady flow of capable individuals ready to take on leadership roles within the church.
