My Story
As a 1.5-generation Korean-American growing up near Savannah, Georgia, I was the only Korean-speaking student in my high school, which made me stand out from my peers. My first vehicle was a manual-shift GMC S-15 truck. As one can tell, I was trying really hard to fit in!
Many Korean pastors sought to convert me, but I often found myself in opposition to the Korean church and got into arguments with them. Unexpectedly, my spiritual awakening occurred far from my Georgian roots, on the other side of the country in Tacoma, Washington. This pivotal experience led me to pursue a deeper understanding of the faith that had eluded me in my youth. Motivated by my desire for clarity and a profound understanding of the Gospel, I enrolled at the Philadelphia College of Bible in Pennsylvania, now known as Cairn University. There, I focused on Bible and Youth Ministry studies, and my academic journey continued at Westminster Theological Seminary, where I earned my Master of Divinity.
For nearly two decades, I dedicated myself to bi-vocations, serving as both a youth pastor and a social worker. This dual commitment reflects my passion for addressing both the spiritual and social needs of the community I serve.
